Questions & Answers
Here are answers to the most common questions we receive from families across the USA who are considering an African Grey parrot. If your question is not listed, contact us directly and we’ll be happy to help.
1. Do you allow pick up?
Yes, we allow pick up only for those who have made a reservation for visits or pick up in person.
2. How does the reservation process work?
Once we know which parrot you are interested in, we will proceed by sending you the sales contract to review. After reviewing and signing the sales contract, we can then proceed with the deposit for reservation. This fee holds your specific parrot and is applied toward the final price.
3. Is there a sales contract?
Yes, there is a sales contract agreement which must be reviewed and signed before payment is made.
4. Do you ship?
Yes, we offer shipping to the nearest airport in your location or delivery of your parrot directly to your doorstep.
5. How safe is the shipping process?
We treat each journey as if we were sending our own family member. We use professional climate controlled transport and choose routes that minimize stress. If weather or logistics are not safe, we will postpone travel rather than take risks.
6. Do they bite?
Any bird with a beak can bite if they feel startled or misunderstood. However, because our parrots are hand raised and socialized daily by our family, they are taught to be gentle and to step up calmly. We provide guidance on how to maintain this trust.
7. Are African Greys good for first time bird owners?
African Greys are very intelligent and sensitive. They can be suitable for dedicated first time owners willing to learn and commit to daily interaction, enrichment, and long term care. We will be honest if we feel another species might suit you better.
8. Do African Greys always learn to talk?
Many African Greys become excellent talkers but speech is never guaranteed. Some prefer sound effects or whistles. We focus on their emotional wellbeing and bond with you rather than just their talking ability.
9. How noisy are they?
African Greys are generally less shrill than some larger parrots but they can still be loud at times, especially in the morning and evening. They also repeat household sounds which may surprise you if you are not prepared.
10. What is the typical price range?
Prices vary depending on age, type, and specific characteristics. Once we know what you are looking for, we can give you the current price range for our available parrots.
11. What do I need to prepare before my parrot arrives?
You will need an appropriately sized cage, safe perches, toys for mental stimulation, food and water dishes, recommended pellets, and a quiet corner of your home for the first weeks. We provide a detailed preparation checklist to help you get ready.
12. What if my situation changes after purchase?
We ask all families to think carefully before committing. If an unexpected situation arises, contact us first. We may be able to advise or help with options that prioritize the well being of the parrot.
